About Me!

PXL_20230824_152348123.jpg

Hi! My name is Devon Buckley and I am a writer born and raised in New York. I've recently earned my BA from CU Boulder in Creative Writing with minors in Media Studies and Geology.

During my time there I was able to focus on Scriptwriting and Creative Development and learn how well I thrive in collaborative environments. While there, I had the opportunity to lead a six person Creative development team in a class taught by Steven T. Seagel. I was incredibly inspired by my teammates and we created some spectacular work.

In my writing, I feel particularly drawn to stories that investigate how individuals and groups are influenced by society – how it shapes their morality and behavior. Because of that interest many of my stories tend to be in post-apocalyptic settings where societal influence is either removed or at least dramatically altered. My large love for the environment and a background in conservation and environmental science inspires me to incorporate climate change and human impact on the ecosystem.

However, I have an open minded approach to my writing. I enjoy a wide array of genres and like to keep my projects diverse so I can stay flexible and adaptable.

White Noise Hysteria

A suspenseful sardonic spin on zombie stories in a post COVID/post A.I. world.

Dead West

This is an Old Western trans-media endeavor set in a distant future. Most of the United States is a wasteland infested with gothic monsters, forcing the remainder of humanity to live in false Utopian, dome, costal cities. The main character Maverick, a classic Cowboy-Type, becomes disillusioned with the Utopia, veiling totalitarianism and escapes the city in order to find his freedom in the wasteland or die trying.

A short film of a post-apocalyptic tragedy, reminiscent of Cormac McCarthy's The Road, where the unnamed main character is forced to find the will to continue on her journey through this  wasteland despite having lost the one thing worth surviving for.
